Since the WindForces appr0ach does not heavily rely on site measurements, developing 30 years of wind data will take only a few months. These simulated wind data are proven to be on par with site measurements, with single digit errors in monthly average wind speed, based on many validation projects conducted over several years. Once the wind speed and direction data are produced, along with other atmospheric variables such as temperature and density, wind energy output will be estimated for each wind turbine type, via corresponding turbine power curves, designed to operate at the hub height. Additionally, small-scale simulations will also be performed for the purposes of ascertaining turbine micrositing/placement and accounting for wake effects for optimal energy production and increased turbine longevity.
